Located in the vicinity at the heart of the Sembawang new town, Jelutung @ Canberra Community Club was officially opened on the 8th of August 2008 during the ministerial community visit by Mr Gan Kim Yong, Acting Minister for Manpower.
The name Jelutung was chosen to signify the Jelutung Tree, synonymous with the progress of the community, a fast growing and steady tree.
The range of courses, programmes and activities offered and organized by the Community Club and its dedicated volunteers are refreshingly new and synonymous with a hip and vibrant new estate that they cater to.
In line with its objective of becoming an arts hub of the north, the Jelutung @ Canberra Community Club do keep a lookout for untapped young talents to form its arts group. It is with this in mind that a group of youth volunteers came forward to stage its first ever youth musical under the banner and support of a Community Club.
